Aeration for Sewer Mains
In sewer mains, wastewater can turn septic due to low flow rates or extended distances. Septic conditions give rise to issues such as odors and the presence of highly toxic, corrosive hydrogen sulfide gas. Introducing oxygen into sewer mains can mitigate or reverse these septic conditions by establishing an aerobic environment.
Mazzei venturi wastewater aeration technology offers an optimal solution for introducing air or oxygen into lift stations and sewer mains. A portion of the wastewater is diverted directly from the sewer main (or from a basin equipped with a lift station pump) and propelled through one or more Mazzei® venturi injectors. These injectors aspirate ambient air or concentrated oxygen without the need for blowers or compressors. The resulting wastewater and air/oxygen mixture are reintroduced into the sewer main via Mazzei MTM™ mixing nozzles and nozzle manifolds or Pipeline Flash Reactors™, ensuring thorough blending of the sidestream with the main flow. This efficient mixing process maximizes treatment effectiveness.
BENEFITS OF VENTURI WASTEWATER AERATION FOR SEWER MAINS:
- Quiet operation—no blower noise, no splashing
- No limits on water depth
- Simple and flexible installation
- Low installation and maintenance costs
- No moving parts
- Efficient and effective oxygen transfer into the water
