Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
Mazzei uses multiphase flow modeling to design, analyze and optimize our individual products as well as multi-component contacting systems. CFD combines computational methods with engineering physics, chemistry and mathematics to solve complex fluid flow challenges. Our in-house CFD Department is led by Dr. Srikanth Pathapati. Sri holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of Florida and brings over a decade of CFD experience to Mazzei. With CFD, Mazzei possesses the capability for multiphase flow modeling, which incorporates:
- Turbulent flow regimes
- Gas volume fractions
- Bubble size distributions
- Chemical reactions
- Species transport
- Local mixing
- Mass transfer
Advanced simulation tools, including state-of-the-art ANSYS Fluent and CFX simulation software, power Mazzei’s solutions to fluid flow problems, enabling a fast, informed and streamlined design and manufacturing process. The combination of over four decades of proven design experience, diligent and robust modeling practices, and careful physical experimentation allows Mazzei to design and optimize mixing and mass transfer performance in new equipment and to troubleshoot existing installations.
